Alpine Ready To Unleash Electric SUV

It's been an exciting year or so for Alpine. Late last year, the sportyA110 sports car was updated, making it an even more formidable alternative to thePorsche 718 Cayman. Our only major gripe with that car is that it isn't sold stateside. Before this reveal, the brandteased three high-performance electric vehicles, including a spicy hot hatch and a fully electric A110. But what about a crossover? Few automakers don't have one in their lineups anymore, as it's simply what the current market demands. Well, Alpine's own electric crossover, the GT X-Over, is coming in 2025. The vehicle will be produced at a dramatically transformed Dieppe facility in France.

Although we haven't seen the GT X-Over yet and a lot of technical information about this new model remains unknown, we're not completely in the dark about this exciting crossover. For starters, it will employ the CMF-EV architecture that forms part of alarge investment into EVsby the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. This is the same platform that underpins the Nissan Ariya.

According toAutocar, the GT X-Over will make use of the Renault Megane E-Tech's single electric motor producing 215 horsepower, although it's been hinted that a four-wheel-drive setup with even more power and potentially another electric motor is in the cards for the GT X-Over. That could see it competing directly with the upcomingPorsche Macan EV.
