All-New Jaguar E-Type Takes 3,800 Hours To Build

This year marks the60th anniversary of the exquisite Jaguar E-Type, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever made. To celebrate, Jaguar is launching theE-Type 60 Collectionfeaturing six pairs of restored 3.8 E-Types inspired by the "9600 HP" and "77 RW" that debuted in Geneva back in 1961.

现在,舵汽车是th建造自己的敬意e E-Type. Based in the UK, the company was established to restore and modernize the iconic Series 1 E-Type with updated technology and a bespoke hand-crafted interior - and now the first example has been built.

Only 20 cars will be produced, each with a unique specification tailored by the owner. Each example retains at least 30 percent of the original E-Type's steel-reinforced monocoque shell using at least 30 percent of the original.

While you might expect a modern-day interpretation of the E-Type to have anelectric powertrain, under the custom aluminum hood is a rebuilt version of the E-Type's original 3.8-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 300 hp, paired with a bespoke five-speed gearbox.

Thanks to extensive use of aluminum, the reimagined E-Type weighs only 2,645 pounds. While the elegant design remains faithful to the original E-Type, the classic sports car has been upgraded with modern luxuries and technology to make it easier to live with on a daily basis including electronic power steering, alloy front brakes, adjustable suspension, a heated screen, and soft close door system.

Inside, the bespoke interior is trimmed in a mix of soft suede and semi-aniline leather and features modern LED lighting, an upgraded Bluetooth stereo system, and air conditioning. Premium leather is also applied to the toggle switches, steering wheel, and grab handles.

Each example also comes with a bespoke luggage set. In total, each Jaguar E-Type Reimagined takes over 3,800-man hours to build.

"I wanted to create the E-type the way I feel it should be, remaining sensitive to its history, but without a vinyl interior, and without the hassle of carburetor trouble," said Chedeen Battick, founder of Helm Motors. "We combine British craftsmanship with the finest standards of modern automotive engineering, instilling a feeling of love, care and attention to detail within each component." Pricing for the Jaguar E-Type Reimagined starts at £420,000 for the base model, which is considerably more expensive than a brand newF-Type, but this can increase depending on the customer's requirements.
