A Formula 1-Era V10 Toyota Supra Is Incoming

The Toyota Supra pictured started its life as an ordinary production model but was quickly torn apart to make way for a very special power plant. In place of the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six found under the hood of the standard Supra, Tuerck and his team are busy dropping a Formula 1 Judd 4.0-liter V10 motor in the empty engine bay. This high-performance engine weighs about the same as the engine it replaces, and with 750 horsepower on tap and seamless power delivery, it is the perfect partner forTuerck's drifting antics. "For 10 years I have waited to connect the dots in order for this to happen, I never knew what chassis I would use but it was always about the Judd engine even before the Ferrari-swapped 86," said Tuerck.

The Judd engine holds a special place in the history books of motorsport: "The engine can now be found powering many late model Formula 1 cars, such as Benettons, Arrows, or Tyrrells where the original engine is no longer available or cost-effective to rebuild. The enviable record the GV 4 established in sports car racing has continued in the single-seater market. For example, all races in the 2010 BossGP championship were won by Judd GV 4 powered cars." says the Judd website. Tuerck has announced a 14-video series covering the conversion, and we cannot wait for this thing to hit the track.
