一辆宝马X2是Very Likely Going to Happen

Should anyone really be all that surprised?

BMW has become the expert in finding new niche segments for its future cars. When the X6 launched in 2008, it quickly became a solid success. Overnight, a new SUV/CUV segment was created. Competing automakers rushed to the drawing boards. Because of the X6's success, today we also have the X1 and X4. And according to Auto Express,an X2 is on the way. The UK publication claims that BMW is planning to launch a new sporty coupe SUV based on the next-gen X1.

If this is true, it'll likely be offered in both three- and five-door configurations. Styling wise, it'll feature a "sloping roofline and pumped-up wheel arches," which is very much in line with the Active Tourer Concept that was unveiled a year ago. That concept heavily previewed BMW's next-generation styling language. Several engines will likely be on offer, with the performance version supposedly set to be a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 300 horsepower. If the X2 does come to market, expect it to arrive about a year after the new X1, which goes on sale in early 2016.
