2025 Kia Carnival First Images Released

Now with looks inspired by Kia's EVs.

Kia South Korea has published the first images and details of the revisedCarnival. Since the details of the 2024 model were published months ago, we expect this heavily facelifted model to arrive in the USA next year as a 2025 model. Though not as popular as the Sorento or Telluride, Kia sells roughly 3,000 Carnivals on average per month, so it is an important model for the South Korean company locally.

Part of its sales success is down to its SUV-like exterior, which is more palatable than every other minivan out there. Even so, Kia wiped the slate clean and went with new front and rear-end designs that borrow heavily from its current andupcoming EV range.

As you can see, the front is equipped with vertical headlamps and signature star map lighting daytime running lights, just like the EV9. Kia only published photos of the exterior, but we expect the already brilliant interior to carry on with minimal changes.

Viewed from the side, we can see Kia kept the straight character line that connects the front and rear lights. It does sport a new set of alloys heavily inspired by the EV9 andrecently unveiled EV5, and, according to Kia, these give the Carnival a "solid and strong feel."

At the rear, the license plate bracket has moved downward, while the exposed trunk handle has been removed for a cleaner look. The taillights have also been updated, and they're now connected by a star map rear combination lamp.

The overall design of the Carnival can also be spruced up by adding a new Gravity package. It comes with a model-specific grille and wheels, and dark metallic finishes are applied to the roof rails, C-pillar, tailgate, door garnish, and skid plates.

Finally, a new color called Ivory Silver has been added to the existing palette. It's worth keeping in mind that the car you see here is Korean-spec, and some things might still change before the vehicle arrives in America.

Kia is carrying its gas and diesel engines over unchanged. Since Kia never brought the diesel model to the USA, the 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque will remain the only engine option for now.

A new engine will join the range, however. Kia confirmed that a hybrid will arrive based on a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. We're 99% sure this model will find its way to the USA if only to give Kia the opportunity to provide an alternative to the Sienna Hybrid.

This powertrain isalready available in the Sorento Hybrid, and it produces 227 hp and 258 lb-ft. Kia might even introduce a plug-in hybrid model (same powertrain, larger battery), in which case, suburban dwellers can expect roughly 30 miles of electric-only range.

Pricing is not available yet, but Kia is known for high value for less layout. We'll know more once Kia America reveals the US-specific details.
