2024 Volvo XC60 Gets Sinister Black Edition Styling Package

Special Editions /4 Comments

It's available only for the top-spec Ultimate trim level.

After introducingthe S60 Black Edition, Volvo introduced the sinister styling pack to theirXC60compact SUV.

Available exclusively on the range-topping Ultimate trim, the sensible Swede receives Onyx Black exterior paintwork, blacked-out exterior details, and gloss black Volvo logos. Adding further menace to the XC60 are the 21-inch High Gloss Black wheels with a five-double spoke design.

Aside from those updates, the XC60 remains unchanged, which is good. It's one of the best-looking compact luxury SUVs, and this stealthy package only enhances the handsome styling. Step inside, and you'll find the interior also benefits from the Black Edition treatment.

A black headliner creates a cozy environment and matches the Charcoal seat upholstery. Volvo says customers can choose between Ventilated Nappa leather or a sportier combination of Nappa leather, leatherette, and textile.

The XC60 Black Edition Exterior also receives the classy crystal gear knob from Orrefors, metal mesh aluminum trim inlays, and a 12.3-inch digital driver's display with Google built-in.

The Black Edition package brings purely aesthetic changes, so the engines remain the same. Two models can be equipped with this package; the B5 AWD and the Recharge T8. The former uses a mild-hybrid 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Should you require more power from your Swedish steed, the plug-in hybrid Recharge T8 pairs an electric motor with the 2.0-liter motor for a combined output of 455 horsepower. It's quick, with 0 to 60 mph dispatched in just 4.5 seconds. Despite this impressive performance, the Recharge T8 is relatively frugal and can achieve 63MPGe on the combined cycle. An all-electric range of 35 miles comes in handy.

Volvo will introduce the XC60 Black Edition for the 2024 lineup. The Black Edition with the B5 powertrain retails for $57,500, while the T8 derivative is priced at $68,950. It's worth noting these prices exclude Volvo's destination and delivery charges.

The new package will add plenty of appeal to the XC60 lineup, which remainsthe best-selling Volvo productin America. In June, the company sold 3,925 examples to customers in the USA. While an all-black styling package may not appeal to traditional Volvo buyers, the automaker is still trying tolure younger consumers into showrooms.

First introduced in 2017, the XC60 was facelifted in 2021. Now a bit long in the tooth, we expect a replacement model to arrive in the coming years. The all-electricreplacement should arrive in 2024.
