2023 Land Rover Defender Trophy Edition Could Score You A Trip To Southern Africa

The Defender Trophy Edition is back for another model year. Based on the extended2023 Land Rover Defender130 P400 SE, this latest Trophy Edition features more space for the family with a larger trunk and a roomier third row.

Last Year'sTrophy Edition was based on the 90two-door model, and theone before that was the 110four-door. Land Rover will only produce 230 units for 2023, with 220 allocated for the US and just 10 for Canada. Each one is priced at a whopping $103,000. For reference, a standard Defender 130 P400 SE costs $78,300.

While the previous iterations of the Defender Trophy Edition were wrapped in bright yellow, this new one wears a stealthy Santorini Black Matte color with topographical maps on the doors and spare tire. There are no interior photos, but Land Rover says it will include Ebony Grained Leather with custom badging.

The $24,700 premium for the Trophy Edition goes toward a host of off-road features, including an expedition roof rack, Pelican Products roof box, a deployable ladder, an electronic winch, mud flaps, wheel arch protection, a front skid plate, and rubber mats. The Defender is also equipped with several optional packages, such as the Cold Climate Pack, Black Exposed Rear Recovery Eyes, Off-Road Pack, and Advanced Off-Road Capability Pack.

All 230 units also come with a two-person entry for a one-day off-road adventure in the Defender Trophy Competition in Austin, Texas, on October 29, 2023.

"Taking part in the exclusive expedition-style competition provides a unique experience for owners to put their off-road skills and teamwork to the test."

Up to 90 teams will compete in the challenge, which lasts until November 8. The competition involves physical and team-building obstacles, including on- and off-road tasks. The winners will receive a four-day travel experience in Southern Africa, driving Defenders through the Erongo Mountains and Spitzkoppe Peaks.
