2021 Buick Envision Fuel Economy Is Seriously Impressive

The numbers are in.

The second-generation别克Envisionwas revealed a few months ago and the compact luxury crossover looks far better than its ratherunexciting predecessor. Now that Buick's North American lineup consists exclusively of crossovers, good design is more important than ever. As are things like connectivity driver-assist features, and fuel efficiency. Not everyone is ready to take the EV plunge just yet.

Fortunately, the 2021 Envision delivers on the efficiency front. The EPA has released the official fuel economy figures for the vehicle, though only in AWD spec. The 2021 Envision AWD will return 22/29/25 mpg city/highway/combined.

To compare, that's exactly the same as last year's naturally aspirated FWD Envision. What's more, this is also an improvement over the 2020 Envision AWD turbo by 2 mpg in the city, 4 on the highway, and 3 combined. The EPA also points out that the new Envision does not require regular premium fuel like its predecessor. So basically, less and cheaper gas at the expense of 19 horsepower. The 2021 Envision's 2.0-liter turbo-four is rated at 230 horsepower, down from last year's 252 hp. Chances are, last year's NA base engine will be dropped.

Apreviously leaked order guide(which Buick has confirmed to be legit) revealed the 2021 Envision will carry a starting price tag of $32,995 with destination, a $1,700 decrease compared to its 2020 base trim equivalent.

Meanwhile, the mid-range Envision trim's $36,995 starting price remains unchanged. A fully-loadedEnvision AvenirAWD begins at $43,195, which is still around $1,600 less than last year's top-of-the-line Essence II trim. Hopefully, the EPA will announce the 2021 Envision's FWD fuel economy figures shortly, but there's a high likelihood a greater percentage of buyers will opt for AWD.

Sales for the redesigned Envision are likely set to get underway early next year.
