2020's Final Chevy Corvette Is For Sale Again

No one was willing to pay $140,000 the first time.

Demand remains higher than ever for the C8Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Not only did many hopeful first model year buyers miss out on a 2020 C8, but the situation is repeating itself for the current year. Those who want a 2022 C8 arehighly advisedto place their orders immediately. But there's now a second opportunity to acquire a very highly desirable 2020 C8 convertible. Deep pockets are recommended.

Mecum Auctions is offering the last production 2020 Corvette at its Kissimmee event next week. If this Sebring Orange with a Natural Dipped interior looks familiar then you'd be right. The auction company previouslytried to sell itlast January but the top bid of $140,000 failed to meet the reserve price.

To compare, the first 2020 C8 sold for aninsane $3 million. The final 2020 model definitely isn't worth that much. Heck, a new Corvette Convertible begins at a much more reasonable $68,000 or so. Even adding every possible option wouldn't bring the price to $140k.

VIN #1945 was built on December 14, 2020 at the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky and has just six delivery miles on it. Protective plastic still covers parts of the interior. Oddly, the Z51 Performance Package was not included, but it is the fully-loaded 3LT trim and remains in as-delivered condition complete with the window sticker.

Power, of course, comes courtesy of a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V8 with 490 horsepower, paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This time around, there's no reserve so whoever places the highest bid (even if it's less than $140k) drives the car home. We wouldn't be surprised to see the winning bid top off at around $120k-$130k, which still isn't cheap. Then again, demand for convertibles hasn't been as strong as for the coupe.

Last week's announcement confirming the newCorvette Z06 is coming this fallcould drive down regular Stingray prices. We'll find out soon enough. The last 2020 C8 will cross the auction stage this coming Saturday, July 31.
