2020 Honda Passport Price Is Too Good To Ignore

Especially when compared to the typically less expensive CR-V.

If you're in the market for a new midsize crossover, then theHonda Passportremains one of your best bets. The third-generation model was launched for the 2019 model year and unlike its SUV predecessors is now a crossover, though that'snot a bad thing. It's built on a front-wheel-drive platform shared with the slightly largerHonda Pilotand Ridgeline pickup truck. There's also the extremely popular, though smaller,CR-Vcompact crossover. Typically, the CR-V is cheaper than the Passport when buying and leasing, but right now there's been a change, though it's only for current Honda customers.

CarsDirect discovered that you can now lease a new 2020 Passport for $18 less than a CR-V. Yes, really.

Here's the deal: the 2020 Passport (not including the just-arriving 2021 model) has a lease offer of $209 a month for 36 months. Combined with $2,999 due, this equates to $292 per month. Meanwhile, the 2020 CR-V is being advertised at $310 a month for the same time period, though with $0 down, a benefit of Honda's popular Sign and Drive program. Do the quick math and there's your $18 difference. What's more, both vehicles have a 10,000-mile yearly limit.

The Passport deal is all the more impressive when you compare its base MSRP to that of the CR-V; $33,110 vs. $26,270. A $6,840 price difference is massive when compared to the mere $18 monthly lease payment difference.

In addition to being a bit bigger, the Passport is also more powerful than the CR-V because it's equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The CR-V has a turbocharged 1.5 four-cylinder with 190 hp and 179 lb-ft.

The Passport lease offer is good through January 4, 2021, and even applies to the 2021 model (despite a minor price hike), which makes sense because the 2020 stock is nearly gone. Aside from being a Honda customer, there is another potential catch.

At present, only Honda customers in the following 29 states can benefit from the deal: AZ, CA, CT, CO, DE. FL, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, ME, MI, MN, MT, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, UT, VT, and WI.
