Two tuned JDM legends show up, but which one walks away the king?

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and the Nissan Skyline GT-R are two of themost iconic JDM sports carsever. Both cars are known for their high-performance numbers, handling, and styling. Some would say a matchup at the track would be better, but what quicker way to compare than in a drag race?

The guys at the That Racing Channel on YouTube featured someof the besttuned examples of these two cars in a straight-line contest to find out. In the video, Lee Yearwood from Monsta Performance brought his Skyline GT-R to engage in an epic showdown against Gordon and his formidable Lancer Evo X - one of the finestrally-inspired road carsaround.

In stock form, the Lancer Evolution X has a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine generating 291 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.

On the other hand, the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 - the spiritual predecessor of the currentNissan GT-Rright before it got separated from the Skyline nameplate - had a twin-turbo 2.6-liter inline-six engine producing more power than the Evo in its most potent form.

But these cars far exceed stock figures. Both have over 1,000 hp sent to all four wheels through a sequential gearbox.

The owners are secretive about their cars, but we know that Gordon's Evo X has a 76mm turbo, CP pistons, and Perilla rods. Meanwhile, Lee's R34 has a 3.2-liter Nitto stroker kit, Hollow Tech internals, and a Motec ECU.

By numbers alone, it's an exciting matchup that could swing either way, especially since both AWD monsters have grippy tires to help them spring off the line.

The two JDM superstars raced in three rounds - the first two races started from a roll, while the deciding round was from a dig. The results were close, showcasing both cars' incredible performance and tuning potential.
