10 Fastest Hillclimb Runs At Goodwood Festival Of Speed

Electric vehicles posted quicker times.

The Hillclimb shootout is one of the most anticipated events at the annualGoodwood Festival of Speed, where a diverse classification of cars - from electric vehicles to the latest supercars andeven Formula 1 cars- compete to the set the fastest time.

The Hillclimb is staged on a narrow, winding road spanning 1.16 miles, featuring nine turns before reaching the top of the hill. The course might be short, but it's a unique setting for car brands to showcase their latest machines.

This year's 75th Edition of the festival will see Lamborghini's newLe Mans hypercar, plus a host of specialPorsche 911units powered by synthetic fuel.

A new Hillclimb record run was set last year by the 1,000-hpMcMurthy Speirling. And Goodwood has released a video showing the fastest ten of all time head of this week's festival.

Taking the 10th spot is the Peugeot 208 T16 'Pikes Peak' driven by Sebastien Loeb, a decorated World Rally Championship driver. It recorded a time of 44.6 seconds.

The ninth fastest car is the Williams-Cosworth FW07B driven by touring car racing driver Anthony Reid with a lap time of 44.58 seconds.

The eighth fastest is held by the Jaguar XJR8/9 driven by Justin Law, which tackled the Hillclimb in 44.4 seconds. The seventh spot belongs to the Nio EP9, aChinese electric supercarthat completed the course in 44.32 seconds.

The sixth car is again the Jaguar XJR8/9 driven by Justin Law, which is one of the two cars on the list that have multiple fastest times. It completed the climb in 44.19 seconds.

The fifth fastest is the Volkswagen ID. R, an electric race car driven by Romain Dumas that posted a lap time of 43.05 seconds. The fourth spot belongs to the Gould-Cosworth GR51 with Graeme Wight Jr. behind the wheel, who recorded a time of 42.9 seconds.

The third fastest is the McLaren-Mercedes MP4/13 driven by Nick Heidfeld, completing the Hillclimb in 41.6 seconds. The VW ID. R and Romain Dumas also set the second fastest time with a 39.9-second run, beating the McLaren F1 car's 20-year record by 1.7 seconds.

And last year, the McMurthy Speirling, a rapid electric vehicle, was driven by Max Chilton, who claimedthe fastest Hillclimb run everwith a time of 39.08 seconds.

Let's see if anyone can go even quicker this year.
