2023 Leaf Safety

The NHTSA finally got around to testing the Leaf for the 2022 model year, and the resulting comprehensive safety report was positive. Both the standard Leaf and the Leaf Plus were tested, and both received five stars for overall safety, made up of a five-star rating for the side impact and four-star ratings for the frontal impact and rollover test. These results carry over to the 2023 model. The IIHS reviewed the 2023 Leaf and awarded it a top rating of Good in all categories it has been tested in except the side impact, which received an Acceptable rating, and the ease of use of the LATCH system, which received a Marginal rating.

2023 Leaf Key Safety Features

The 2022 Nissan Leaf comes with a comprehensive list of safety features as standard. All Nissan Leaf models have ten airbags, intelligent forward-collision warning, auto-forward braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent lane intervention, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear auto braking, and automatic high beams. The SV Plus gets adaptive cruise control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, LED headlights, and Nissan's ProPILOT Assist, which comes with semi-autonomous technology, a 360-degree camera system, and intelligent driver-awareness monitoring.

2023 Leaf Reliability

For the Nissan Leaf's 2023 J.D. Power review, it receives a middling rating of 72 out of 100 for quality and reliability. In terms of recalls, the news is good and there was nothing to report for the 2021 and 2022 model years - or for the 2023 model so far.

The Leaf has a three-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile warranty for the drivetrain. The electric components and battery are covered by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty.
