Now that the base 3.0L six-cylinder engine develops 375 hp, the 0-60 of the BMW X5's two 40i trims is cut right down to a quick 5.3 seconds, making them powerful enough for all but the dedicated speed freaks among us. Overtaking and trailering are effortless and the power on tap allows you to tow up to 7,200 pounds with the factory tow hitch fitted. The 4.4L V8 engine develops 523 hp and gets the M60i to 60 mph in a very rapid 4.1 seconds. While ground clearance is over eight inches, the xDrive trims aren't really made for going off-road. They will make short work of that dirt road to the campsite and provide surefooted traction on slippery roads though. The all-season run-flat tires limit top speed to 130 mph on all trims but this can be increased to 155 mph with the appropriate performance tires fitted.
The base 3.0L turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine in the BMW X5's 40i trims is substantially upgraded this year and still boasts a 48V mild-hybrid system, but outputs are up from 335 hp and 331 lb-ft to 375 hp and 398 lb-ft. The base trim is available with either RWD or xDrive AWD and comes with launch control as standard. The 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 engine in the M60i has seen wholesale changes too and now gets the 48V mild-hybrid system for the first time to improve efficiency; its outputs of 523 hp and 553 lb-ft remain the same as last year's. It's not offered in rear-wheel drive at all and gets the xDrive all-wheel drive by default, in addition to an M Sport exhaust system and differential. One transmission does duty in all trims, and it's ZF's well-known eight-speed automatic.

的油耗那位宝马X5 40我修剪已经y at the top of the class thanks to the 48V mild-hybrid system. Efficiency has taken another leap forward this year due to the improved six-cylinder engine. On the EPA's city/highway/combined cycles, the X5's mpg figures improve from 21/25/23 mpg for the xDrive40i to 23/27/25 mpg this year - way better than its rivals. BMW has not released the sDrive40i's figures at the time of writing, but based on last year's 21/26/23 mpg, we're expecting a similar improvement of 2 mpg across the board.
The M60i doesn't improve by nearly as much, despite getting the mild-hybrid assistance for the first time, and compared to the six-cylinder, the tiny improvement from 16/22/19 mpg to 17/22/19 mpg is quite a disappointment. With a fuel capacity of 21.9 gallons, the xDrive40i now has a range of around 547 miles on a tank, with the M60i sticking to the same expected 416 miles it did last year.
