World's Fastest Man Launches New Car

Nine-time Olympic gold medallist and theworld's fastest man, Usain Bolt, is venturing into the world of electric cars. He's currently backing a new EV company aptly named Bolt based in Florida, which he co-founded in 2018. The former Olympic sprinter has been making a name for himself with the launch of the Bolt One, Bolt Chariot, and Bolt Chariot electric scooters, and now the company has unveiled its first electric city car at the VivaTech show in Paris, France.

It's called the Nano, and it adopts a two-seater setupsimilar to the Renault Twizywith room for one occupant in the front and one in the back. Bolt claims the Nano is so tiny that four of them can fit in a normal parking space.

Whereas Bolt's scooters are designed for journeys of up to 2 miles, the new Nano city car is best suited for journeys between 2 and 15 miles. No technical specifications have been released yet, but Bolt claims the Nano is the first electric micro-car in the world to use swappable batteries.

Bolt says the Nano will also be useful for ride-sharing programs. Like e-scooter and bicycle-sharing programs available around the world, users could park and leave a Nano wherever they want. Staff could then drive around and replace the Nano's batteries, ensuring they are fully charged for the next user. A series of charging stations will also be built for the Nano where it can be charged and docked.
