Welcome to 2020.

America is the home of the televisedcar chase, and nowhere else in the world are criminals more celebrated for breaking the law. California is a hotspot for this all-American tradition, and a recent video shows just why people love this sport so much. The car chase in question made headlines for all the right reasons: not only was a celebrity's car involved, but the vehicle itself was a wonderful piece of American engineering.

The car in question is aheavily-modifiedFord F-550 6x6 belonging to celebrity DJ Marshmello that's estimated to be worth around $350,000. The theft comes as no major surprise, asFord F-Seriescars are the most stolen in the US. While some reports describe the car as a Hennessey VelociRaptor, it's actually a Diesel Brothers creation,

According to news sources, the incident began on Wednesday night around 7:00 pm, when the Ford F-550 6×6 was stolen from a Ford dealership service bay on Roscoe Boulevard in Van Nuys, California. According to police reports, the suspect rode to the dealership on a bicycle, threw it in the bed of the truck and then sped off. The car was spotted a few hours later driving recklessly on Malibu Knolls Road. Police pursuit ensued when the suspect joined the 101 Freeway. California Highway Patrol officers had the pleasure of hunting down the Ford monster truck.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to bring the truck to a halt, the suspect eventually turned off of the freeway and ended up hitting a light pole after exiting a Taco Bell parking lot in Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Vanowen Street in North Hollywood. DJ Marchsmello's manager, Moe Shalizi had apparently dropped the car off at the Ford dealership for a service. The suspect is yet to be identified, and was arrested without any resistance. Police officers do however believe that he might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The truck was custom built for Marshmello last year, and perhaps it would have been better for humankind if it had disappeared forever.
