Watch Fresh Asphalt Being Laid On The Nurburgring

As we reported earlier, this year's maintenance will see around 1.5 miles of the track being revitalized, extending from Dottinger Hohe to the年代abine-Schmitz-Kurve. In the video, we see that the entrance to the pits is being redone too, as are connecting sections between the GP track and the Nordschleife. The Hyundai N corner is also part of this.

The Grand Prix track was constructed in 1984, so its surface is still relatively new. As such, only the top few inches of the old asphalt have been removed. But the Nordschliefe was constructed between 1925 and 1927, so some excavations run as deep as two meters, all the way to the foundation layer.

The video was shot this week, and the YouTuber comments how deadline-driven the construction workers have to be since the Ring is scheduled to reopen on March 12. It's amazing to think that such thorough renovations can be carried out with so little impact on the track's calendar, but that's why so little of the track is resurfaced each year. We're glad to see that the Green Hell is constantly being upgraded and thankful that it even exists to this day. With the recent news that another supercar manufacturer will bebuilding its latest product at the Ring, we don't think this circuit will ever fall to irrelevance.
