WATCH: Brad Pitt's Formula 1 Team Sucks At Pit Stops

You're supposed to change the wheels.

Brad Pitt and Damson Idris will need some serious skill to beat their rivals in the upcoming unnamed Formula 1 movie, because their pit crew sucks. A video posted by F1 Troll on X, formerly Twitter, shows behind-the-scenes footage of the faux F1 car coming in for a tire change, but the pit crew doesn't even bother slapping some fresh rubber on the vehicle.

Instead, they use the wheel guns for no reason before the car blasts into the distance. It's hilarious to watch, and of course, we're not stupid. There's a perfectly reasonable explanation for this odd video. The cinematographer or director of photography was most likely getting close-up shots of the wheel gun or members of the pit crew handing tires to each other.

The crew actually looks quite experienced, and we believe there's a good reason for that. This Apple production likely has a higher budget than thecurrent cost cap, so why not hire a pit crew with real-life experience?

While we still don't know the film's name, the fictional team's name has since been unveiled as APXGP. The production kept this secret until theteam debuted at the Silverstone Grand Prixearlier this year. APXGP was actually part of the formation lap that weekend but was kept well out of view of the live TV feed. Expect them to pop up at the eight upcoming races, too.

Lewis Hamilton is a named producer, so we know two things for certain: the movie will be an accurate depiction of Formula 1, and there will almost certainly be a Dutch antagonist. All of the sponsors on the Mercedes-built APXGP cars are real, meaning a hefty part of the movie's budget comes directly from product placement deals. As such, expect to see Merc's entire range of cars carefully placed throughout the film. Pitt's more experienced character, Sonny Hayes, will likely drive the newMercedes-AMG GT, while Idris' rookie Joshua Pearce will get aMercedes-AMG E-Scooteras a company car.

In all seriousness, we hope the director (Joseph Kosinski, who made the sublimeTop Gun: Maverick) includes a proper slow-motion sequence of a real-life Formula 1 pit stop. It's only possible to see everything clearly during a Formula 1 broadcast if you look at Scuderia Ferrari's slow stops, but for everyone else, it's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it affair. (Sorry, Carlos and Charles. The joke was right there.)

The current pit stop record belongs to Red Bull, who serviced Max Verstappen's car in just 1.82 seconds at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The fastest pit stop for the 2023 season also belongs to Red Bull, who serviced Sergio Perez's car in 1.98 seconds at theHungarian Grand Prix. That's the same race Ferrari took nine seconds to service a car.

You can see Red Bull's world record pit stop in slow motion below, but we want to see it from multiple angles. Maybe Pitt's film might help us live out that reality.
