Watch a BMW i3 Park Itself

BMW's Parking Assistant system is designed for those with poor spatial awareness. You'd be forgiven for using it in one of the carmaker's more cumbersome rides, a 750 for example, but there's no excuse for flicking the switch in the BMW i3. Nonetheless, watching a car park by itself is pretty cool. Sure, in the not-so-distant future, when every other car on the road will be autonomous we'll look back at these videos and laugh. But for now, we will look at them with awe.

Using a radar that scans for an appropriate size space, once found the i3 takes over, allowing for the driver – in this case Romanian rally driver Vali Porcisteanu – to jump out the window as the EV starts backing up.
