Virgin Galactic Reveals Interior Of Revolutionary Space Plane

Inside the cabin are six individually sized seats for passengers constructed from aluminum and carbon fiber. A pilot-controlled recline mechanism positions astronauts to manage G- forces on boost and re-entry while also freeing up cabins pace. Multi-color LEDs are concealed within the window surrounds to provide mood lighting. All lighting is disabled when the Earth comes into view against the black sky of space to allow passengers to focus on the view through one of the space plane's twelve large windows.

Passengers will wear spacesuits designed by Under Armour and be able to float freely around the cabin. When passengers become weightless, soft cabin surfaces and elements become hand and footholds to allow exploration around the cabin.

Passengers will also be able to record their epic space adventure thanks to 16 cameras inside the cabin. Additional cameras are also placed in the cockpit and externally. In a first for space travel, the cabin also includes a large, circular mirror with a tinted reflective surface allowing astronauts to view themselves weightless. If you want to take a virtual tour of the cabin, Virgin Galactic has released a free augmented reality app on the App Store and Play Store.

Virgin Galactic hasn't announced when the first customer flights will begin, but aspiring astronauts can place a reservation with a refundable $1,000 deposit. More than 600 deposits have been received so far.
