Upcoming Ineos EV Offroader Will Only Have 249 Miles Of Range

Ineos Automotive confirmed earlier this yearthat an all-new electric off-roader is in the pipeline to be produced by Magna Steyr in Austria. It did not take long for more details to be unearthed, thanks to a report bycarsales. Talking to the Australian publication, Ineos CEO Lynn Calder said the upcoming model will have more than 249 miles of range.

A range of 249 miles does not sound competitive by today's standards; the GMC Hummer EV will have up to381英里,2024更新, while the Rivian R1S manages 390 miles on a single charge. Factors like towing and added weight from off-roading equipment can further reduce the EV's range.

However, other features coming in the unnamed Ineos EV off-roader could offset the range. Calder revealed the model will "be near-unstoppable off-road." The report said the model will be developed for workhorse duties and offer off-road durability "not yet seen in the emerging EV segment."

The electrified powertrain will be on a dedicated EV platform, with reports suggesting that Canadian auto parts supplier Magna International's FM29 platform (which underpins theFisker Ocean) will be the go-to. This was a co-developed platform between Fisker and Magna, so it likely won't be used verbatim as much of the tech came from Fisker, but an adaptation of the basic architecture is a very real possibility.

Should it use this architecture, it would reaffirm previous reports that the new electric off-roader wouldadopt a skateboard-style chassis.
