Transporter Carrying Nine Supercars Meets Disastrous End In England

Crash /7 Comments

Collectively, the cars are probably worth over $1 million.

After the transporter carrying them lost control, nine high-end luxury cars ended up strewn across a dual carriageway in Kent, England. The incident occurred Wednesday evening when local police rushed to the scene after being alerted that the transporter had overturned. The one good piece of news to come out of the unfortunate event was that the truck driver sustained only minor injuries.

Individually, the cars are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and, collectively, likely over $1 million. The casualty list includes a Jaguar F-Type Convertible, Lamborghini Aventador,Aston Martin DB11, Bentley Continental, Nissan GT-R, BMW 3 Series Coupe (E92, before the 4 Series nameplate replaced it), and Mercedes-AMG GT. We also spotted two Ferraris, and we feel particularly sorry for theAventadorsandwiched between the Jag and a Ferrari; theDaily Mailmentioned a red Huracan, but the red Lambo in the video is an Aventador.

The person who shared the video also attached a statement from Everyman Racing, a UK-based center that offers track days and driving experiences in high-end sports cars. It seems the vehicles were used for a driving event and were en route to another one in Goodwood when the incident occurred. The company applauded the HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) driver, known only as Richard, for his quick reflexes in averting what could have been a more dire accident if other road users were involved.

Everyman Racing has a fleet of over 200 supercars, so the nine severely damaged or written off here represent a small percentage of the total. However, the insurance claim will still be substantial. The Lambo, Bentley, and Aston alone are worth well over $600,000 combined. Add two Ferraris and the rest, and the total value of these cars will likely exceed $1 million.

"Kent Police was called at 7:57 pm on Wednesday, 23 August, to a report that a car transporter had overturned on the A20 near Farningham," said a spokesman. "The road was closed while arrangements were made to recover the vehicles."

The universe hasn't been kind to supercars in transit in recent times, with two separate shipping disasters resulting in the loss of multiple exotics. The most recent event involving theFremantle Highway cargo shipcarrying 3,784 vehicles put the losses at over $330 million. TheFelicity Ace disaster从去年总计5亿美元damages.

Those numbers make this nine-car accident seem insignificant, but there's something about the sight of these epic cars scattered across a highway that's especially hard to stomach.
