From the smallC-HRto the mighty Land Cruiser, Toyota already has seven individual crossovers or SUVs on sale in the United States but the company seems to be preparing to add to that list soon. In a new teaser video that reveals very little, Toyota announced that this mysterious new model would "come to life" at a press conference on June 2.

A closer look at the sketch of thenew Toyotamodel indicates that it is a crossover of some kind with what appears to be a rear tailgate rather than a sedan-like trunk as well as larger fenders. Based on recent reports, we have a few ideas of what this SUV could be.

Last year, Toyotarevealed theCorolla Cross crossoverin Thailand. Bigger than the C-HR but smaller than the RAV4, the rather conservative crossover is rumored to be on its way to North America. It could potentially receive a few styling tweaks for the local market and this is one possibility for the June 2 reveal. It's expected that theCorolla Crosswill use a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a CVT transmission. It won't be quick but it'll be very efficient and a hybrid version is on the radar as well.

A more exciting prospect is the production version of the recently revealedbZ4x concept, a battery-electric SUV. This is a much more dramatically styled vehicle than the Corolla Cross and from the side, it looks like its proportions are not far off those of the teaser.

The bZ4x - which sounds like something Elon Musk would name his child - is a two-row SUV that is scheduled to go on sale in the middle of next year. It forms part of Toyota's plan to have 70 electrified vehicles sold around the globe by the middle of this decade.

Accompanying Toyota's new teaser was the following: "Even the most iconic works of art are born from a simple sketch. It's only when the art takes form that it begins to possess the power to cross all boundaries."

That hints at something with a striking design. Whether it's the Corolla Cross, production bZ4x or perhaps something different altogether, being a Toyota it should be a winner on the sales charts.
