Toyota Hilux Invincible Remains Forbidden Fruit

Forget the Tacoma. The Hilux is the pickup truck Toyota should be selling in the US.

The Toyota Hilux, as many know, is one of the best all-around pickup trucks on sale today. That is if you live outside of the US. We've long been fans of the highly durable and always reliable Hilux, which has been on the market for 46 years with around 15 million sold, and the latest generation has once again been a solid success for the Japanese brand. Toyota Europe has just revealed details and pictures of the Hilux Invincible, a new trim level that'll soon be available.

The Hilux Invincible is set to be at the top-of-the-range in the Hilux lineup and buyers can opt for Extra Cab or Double Cab body styles along with Active or Sport versions and either two-or four-wheel drive. Specifically, the truck features a silver front underguard, chrome air-intake, fog lamp and rear lamp bezels, and unique "Invincible" badges and scuff plates. It has an all-black interior with cloth or leather seats, chrome side bars and new 17" alloys. Buyers can opt for either a 2.5- or 3.0-liter diesel. Both engines can be paired to either a manual or automatic gearbox. Pricing wasn't announced, but our European friends will find the Hilux Invincible on sale later this year.
