Toyota FJ Cruiser Prepares for Its Final Bow

Toyota planning a proper send off with this special edition.

It wasrumored last summer that the end was near for the Toyota FJ Cruiser. Sadly, that rumor has turned out to be true because 2014 will be the final model year for the big SUV. All told, some 200,000 examples have been sold, but Toyota is fortunately giving it a graceful send off. Just unveiled at SEMA, the FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition is supposedly the "toughest and most capable FJ ever." Available only in a "Heritage Blue" paint job, it comes with a white front grille, blacked out bumpers, exterior mirrors and door handles.

It features an all-new Toyota Racing Development heavy duty aluminum front skid plate. TRD also added an off-road tuned Bilstein front suspension and rear Bilstein shocks with remote reserve. All told, just 2,500 examples will be built. Pricing hasn't been announced but sales are set to begin next February. FJ Cruiser, we're going to miss you. We'll keep ragging on the Prius in your honor.
