2011 Tokyo Motor Show /20 Comments

Honda draw on their sporty past and look to the future with an all-electric compact roadster.

Honda has unveiled their pure electric rear-wheel-drive two-seater convertible sports car dubbed the EV-STER that combines dynamic, innovative styling with excellent environmental performance. An unspecified electric motor draws from a 10kWh lithium-ion battery to power the lightweight roadster enabling it to sprint from 0-60mph in 5.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 100mph. A maximum drive range of 160km is approximated and the battery can be charged in under three hours using a 200V source.

Carbon materials have been used to keep the compact concept's weight down and twin-lever steering has been adopted for a more thrilling drive. Other highlights include the instrument panel featuring both meters and the vehicle information display, and a system allowing drivers to make their own adjustments to motor output, suspension settings and other vehicle characteristics.
