Honestly, we're not sure why it'll take that long to commence because, well, there's only one vehicle involved. You'd think they could just look up the VIN and trace its owner and give them a call. But what led to a single-vehicle recall? What went wrong at the manufacturing facility?

It turns out the problem originated due to a few Ram 1500 instrument clusters made with "suspect software," an issue already addressed by a previous recall that involved 2019 Chargers, Challengers, and 300s.

The Ram 1500 in question was built on December 6, 2018, with one of the defective clusters; the rest were installed in "Production Evaluation Run" vehicles. The recall also makes mention of 2018 and 2019 model-year DS Ram 1500s and DX Ram Trucks in Mexico, so it's possible this issue could affect other vehicles, but it sounds like FCA has got this under control. After all, only one truck is involved.
