This Is The Best-Sounding 2020 C8 Corvette We've Heard So Far

Fabspeed makes one heck of an exhaust system.

If you're one of the lucky handful of Americans to have received your 2020Chevrolet Corvette C8, you might already be surveying the landscape of aftermarket performance parts. Here's one recent addition to the roster: Fabspeed's Valvetronic Maxflo exhaust system.

Weighing in at a full 20 pounds less than the factory system at 56 pounds, this Fabspeed exhaust is substantially lighter than stock. It's a gorgeous piece formed from fully TIG-welded brushed stainless steel with electronically actuated valves - much like the factory exhaust - so you can change the character and noise level of the exhaust note to suit the situation, and your mood.

With the valves open and the exhaust flowing its max, the Fabspeed system offers a mild power and torque advantage: 4 wheel horsepower and up to 6 lb-ft over stock. But with the valves closed, however, is where this system really shines, delivering peak gains of 11 horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque over the factory exhaust.

Truth be told, though, it isn't really the performance advantage that makes the Fabspeed Valvetronic Maxflo system an appealing option; it's the sound and appearance. Of the handful of 2020 Chevrolet Corvette exhaust systems already on the market, we're not sure any manage to sound quite as ferocious, and this is the only one we've seen that offers a choice of four different tip finishes: brushed stainless, polished stainless, matte black coated, or carbon fiber.

If you haven't heard of Fabspeed, the US-based companyhas been around for more than 25 years, cutting its teeth making awesome, custom exhaust systems for vintage Porsche models before moving on to other high-performance exotics: Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Ferrari, and the like.

It could be argued the C8 Corvette, with its mid-engine layout and supercar performance, is a home-grown exotic in its own right. It deserves a home-grown exotic exhaust to suit, don't you think?
