This Dodge Challenger Hellcat Is Pretending To Be Something Else

One shop out there - Six Twelve Auto Worx - may have the remedy: a 2019Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcatwith a carbon-fiber body modeled after the 1969 Dodge Charger. It's bold, nostalgic, and appears to be well executed - essentially everything that a retro-style tuner car should be. And it will be going up for auction soon at Mecum's Kissimmee, Florida collector's car auction event.

Being a 2019 example, this Hellcat Challenger packs a hefty 717 horsepower under the hood, courtesy of asupercharged 6.2L Hemi V8. It also has all the modern gadgets and comforts that you'd expect from any brand new Hellcat: Electronic Stability Control, 3-mode adaptive damping, dual-zone automatic climate control, Uconnect infotainment on an 8.4-inch touchscreen - the works. In fact, as far as we can work out, the interior of the car hasn't been touched at all.

Nor, it appears, has the powertrain. Instead, the differences between this 2019 Hellcat Challenger and one that just rolled off the line in Brampton, Ontario are only skin deep. But oh, what differences they are.
