This "All-New" French Supercar Is Really A C6 Corvette?

And it costs how much!?

Last week we discovered aFrench supercar called the Prato Orage, which made an appearance at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Prato Automobiles, a startup company, is responsible for this 900-hp supercar which, quite naturally, immediately attracted our attention. Not surprisingly, we weren't alone. Turns out someone did some digging and now they're claiming the Prato Orage is nothing more than a re-bodied Chevrolet C6 Corvette.

British auto journalistLewis Kingston, viaThe Drive, took to Twitter claiming the Orage is essentially a Corvette. We've included several photos of the car as well as video footage of it charging up the Goodwood Hill Climb. And yeah, there is a striking resemblance to the C6. Even its 8.1-liter V8 sounds an awful lot like a Chevy pushrod V8.

The fact that a small supercar company bought a GM crate V8 is nothing new, but where the controversy lies is that Prato never mentioned the Orage's roots, leading people to believe it's all-new. And then there's its price tag. A couple of years ago, Prato was asking 850,000 euros, or around $955,000 today. That's right, nearly a million dollars for what appears to be a re-skinned C6 Corvette. Heck, you can go out and buy a new 755-hp Corvette ZR1 for about $120,000. So what on earth makes the Prato Orage so special? Aside from its unique body and interior, not much apparently.

Back in 2017, Prato announced plans to build only 19 units, but we have no idea if all have been produced and whether they've even been sold. Something tells us not enough buyers have been found, hence the reason why it was brought to Goodwood two years after its debut. We've reached out to Prato Automobiles seeking comment and we'll update this space if we receive a reply.
