The S8 Is A LOT Quicker Than Audi Says

The claimed time is impressive enough considering that it tips the scales at 5,302 pounds, but then again, the power output that Audi claims is probably a conservative estimate too. With a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a 48-volt mild-hybrid electric system, Audi says the S8 produces 563 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. As a fast Audi, that power is delivered to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. Audi also claims that the luxury limousine tops out at 155 mph, but based on the above video, we wouldn't be surprised if it's considerably faster than that.

We also kinda feel the need to comment on how spectacular that paint looks in the evening light - it's called Seville Red Metallic, in case you were wondering, and comes at no extra charge. The video also highlights the cabin of the car with its rotating vents for the standard quad-zone climate control system and the three screens that handle driver info and media. It truly is a stunning example of German luxury, but then again, at a base price of $130,000, you'd expect theAudi S8to be quite impressive. It does make us wonder though: when the S8 inevitably becomes an electric car, how damn fast will it be?
