中置引擎的悍妇道奇车rger From 'Fast 9' Now Is Street Legal

SpeedKore has created a monster.

Not everyone is happy about the action-focused direction the 'Fast & Furious' franchise is taking, but we can't help but love the custom cars that star in these movies, from the iconic orangeToyota Supra Paul Walker drove in the original movieto Dom's 'Ice Charger' built for 2017's 'Fate of the Furious.'

In 'Fast 9,' Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto drives a custom mid-engineDodge Charger, and now SpeedKore has built a street-legal replica of the mid-engine movie car. Dubbed the 'Hellacious', the project started life as a 1968 Dodge Charger before Speedkore added a custom engine frame for the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine mounted behind the rear axle, which produces 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. All that power is sent to the rear wheels through a gated-manual Graziano transaxle from a Lamborghini Gallardo.

Other modifications include a custom MagnaFlow exhaust system, a high-performance radiator to keep the engine cool, and new high-performance intercoolers feeding cool air to the 2.4-liter supercharger. Providing the stopping power are Brembo six-piston calipers at the front and Brembo four-piston calipers at the rear. An Ididit steering column and Detroit Speed steering rack improve the car's agility, while the QA1 dampers have been tuned for the racetrack. SpeedKore's mid-engine Charger rides on custom 18-inch center lock wheels with 275/35R18 front and 345/35R18 rear tires.

On the outside, the Hellacious looks suitably aggressive thanks to its custom widebody featuring prominent fender cut-outs and a glass rear hatch exposing the engine compartment.

"This Charger is one of our most extreme builds to date," said Jim Kacmarcik, president and owner of SpeedKore. "After commissioning renowned designer Sean Smith to design the car and working with F9's picture vehicle coordinator Dennis McCarthy to build the nine chassis and vehicle bodies for the film, we wanted to bring the movie magic of F9 to life. 'Hellacious' is a road-going version of the movie car with the functionality of a purpose-built performance car. We couldn't be more excited to debut 'Hellacious' alongside the actual film as yet another unique representation of our design and engineering capabilities as a custom car builder."

For now, SpeedKore's street-legal, mid-engine Dodge Charger is a one-off build, but you can see it in action in 'Fast 9,' which is now showing in US theaters. This isn't the first time SpeedKore has been involved with the Fast & Furious franchise, as it also built theinsane 1970 Dodge Charger "Tantrum"in 2015's 'Furious 7.'
