The Ferrari 488 GTB Will Make You Forget About The 458 Italia

Yes, it's that good.

We admit that we had a hard time accepting the fact the Ferrari 458 Italia was being discontinued. From the moment we first saw it back in 2009 we were smitten. Everything about it was, well, perfect. How could Ferrari perfect perfection? Last year its successor, the 488 GTB, arrived along with itstwin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 with 661 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. We weren't smitten at first. Was that because it was turbocharged and not naturally aspirated? Or that its arrival meant the death of the 458?

Did those intercoolers take away from the smooth and sexy design? Yes to all three. But that was then and we've had a year to get over our complaints. For our latest review we bring you the 2017 Ferrari 488 GTB and, what can we say, it's won us over.

Time really does heal all wounds. It'sfaster, lighter, and more fuel efficient than the 458. While it does strongly resemble its predecessor, the 488 GTB, as discovered in person, is achingly gorgeous. Special thanks toFerrari of San Franciscofor letting us film the car.
