The Ares X-Raid Is An Insane 760-HP Off-Roader Based On The G-Class

The Italian coachbuilding company is also working on a Bentley Mulsanne coupe.

Ares Design, an意大利coachbuilding伴随矩阵y founded by former Lotus boss Dany Bahar, has just revealed its latest crazy creation. Based on thesoon-to-be-retired Mercedes-AMG G63, the Ares Design X-Raid off-roader is a G-Wagon like no other. Ares Design has cladded the X-Raid with a bespoke carbon-fiber and aluminum body, resulting in a less boxy and more modern shape than the G63 that takes its cues from Mercedes' current design language.

Thanks to its new composite body, the X-Raid is 200 kg lighter than the standard G63, and the 5.5-liter V8 has been tuned to produce 760-hp, resulting in a top speed of 155 mph. Inside, the X-Raid has been given a luxurious makeover. At the back are two VIP seats separated with a center console and armrest, and the cabin has been cladded with high-end materials including nappa leather and copious amounts of carbon fiber throughout. Production will commence at Ares Design's newly announced 18,000-square-meter facility in Modena, Italy. The X-Raid will be produced in limited numbers, but Ares Design hasn't specified how limited it will be.

No prices have been announced yet either, butAutocarreports that recladding an existing car like the AMG G63 with carbon fiber costs upwards of £750,000 ($986,951). Ares Design has also announced that the coachbuilding company is working on a coupe version of the Bentley Mulsanne. Sound familiar? That's because we recently reported on asimilar project currently in development by German tuner Mcchip-DKR. It happens to be the same car, as Ares Design is working with Mcchip-DKR to build the coupe Bentley Mulsanne we've been dreaming of.
