Known internally as the S650, the all-newFord Mustangis one eagerly awaited muscle car. We've caught glimpses of the newcomer traipsing around Dearborn, albeitcloaked in heavy disguise. In April, a leaked image of the Mustang'snew face surfaced on the internetand, while the styling doesn't deviate much from the current model, there's no denying it looks far fresher and modern than before.

So far, we know that the seventh iteration of the Mustang willeventually gain hybrid powertrains- expect both the 2.3-liter four-cylinder and 5.0-liter V8 to sport the technology. However, it seems the new model won't be introduced with these engines. In fact, according to recent reports, the S650 will debut with the current generation's engine options: the EcoBoost inline-four and the Coyote V8.

Alas, we're still in the dark with regards to performance and power figures. The current models produce 310 and 450-horsepower, respectively, so we don't anticipate anything less for the upcoming Mustang. While this may come as a disappointment to those hoping to get their hands on the latest variant, it's great to know the naturally-aspirated V8 will live on for some time to come.

Naturally, the hybrid models will produce more power but it's unclear as to whether they will replace the current crop of engines. Certainly, the new hybridized engines will be more efficient - an important part of Ford's eco-friendly ambitions. We know that the Blue Oval is experimenting with hydrogen technology too, which has the potential to extend the lifespan of the V8 engine but we'd bet on a fully electric derivative arriving first.
