It won't be pretty, but it was never meant to be.

The 2018Mercedes-Benz G-Class G550 4x4 Squared's name is a mouthful, but then again, this was as much vehicle as could reasonably be suspended on four wheels. Production was limited to around 300 units, but it was one of the ultimate luxury off-roaders with its raised body, which afforded it close to 20 inches of ground clearance. It spawned theGruma Enok P1, which is essentially the vehicle you need if you want to survive an apocalyptic event.

现在,4 x4的平方将其返回,密苏里州st likely as a 2022 model. In the US, it will be called the G550 4x4 Squared, or the G500 in some other markets. The question is, what will this bruiser of an SUV look like? Thanks to an artist at Kolesa, we now have a realistic look at it for the first time.

These renderings were put together based on a few recent spy shots. There isn't a big difference between this one and the previous model, but then again, the boxy G-Class design hasn't changed much over the last few decades, which is just as most adventure junkies like it. Besides the raised body and high-profile tires, the wider wheel arches also mark this out as a more hardcore off-roader.

The artist used the grille from theAMG G63with its distinct vertical chrome slats, not the G550's more conservative treatment. The deep-set rounded headlights are given a touch of modernity with circular LED DRLs. The black wheels are also similar to those found on the G63.

At the back, the spare wheel sits square in the middle of the body and protective bars have been positioned beneath the back bumper. The previous G550 4x4 Squared was powered by a 4.0-liter V8 with well over 400 horsepower and used portal axles, which is part of the reason that it weighed in at over 6,500 pounds.

The new one should have similar power and weight, owing to the suspension modifications required to overcome just about any obstacle. At over $200,000 for the old one, the new G550 4x4 Squared is also likely to break the bank when it does eventually arrive.
