Tesla Launches $50 Cybertruck Whistle, Sells Out In Hours

Electric Vehicles /11 Comments

Tesla fans will buy anything it seems.

We live in Elon Musk's world. The eccentric CEO of Tesla, the largest manufacturer of EVs, keeps on surprising us with hisunique style of nonsense. This is the guy who has tanked Tesla stocks because of a Twitter poll. This is also the man who hascreated Tesla beer, and who continues to taunt and tease on twitter like a glorified tween. Musk's latest stunt shows just how gullible Tesla fans are, and how late stage capitalism has turned our minds into mush. Musk today launched the Cyberwhistle, a literal whistle made of premium, medical-grade stainless steel, and shaped like the upcomingTesla Cybertruck.

The whistle is listed on the Tesla website under Tesla's lifestyle products and costs a cool $50. In a tweet issued by Musk, the CEO says "blow the whistle on Tesla!"

This could be a nod to the fact that many Tesla employees have threatened to do so in the past. Back in 2019, Bloomberg reported about Musk's efforts to destroy a Tesla whistleblower named Martin Tripp who reported massive losses made by Tesla (to the tune of $150 million) due to inefficient manufacturing processes leaving tons of scrap metal on factory floors.

In the recent tweet, Musk takes a jab at Apple when he said "don't waste your money on that silly Apple Cloth, buy our whistle instead!" He is referring to the $19 Apple Cloth which is used to clean Apple product's displays. Only two hours after making the announcement, the Cyberwhistle was sold out. Earlier this year Tesla filed a trademark application for the "Cyberquad" name, including patents for a range of lifestyle products such as clothing, toys and games. Currently Tesla sells items such as a $45 desktop charger that looks like a Tesla Supercharger, a $35 S3XY mug, and a $150 Tesla decanter. Maybe if all the people who bought the Cyberwhistle all blow hard enough, Tesla willstart building the Cybertruck.
