Tesla Cybertruck Reservation Slot Sells For $10,000 On eBay

The waiting list for the electric truck is around five years, so it's not a surprise some are selling their reservation.

With over two million reservations for theTesla Cybertruck, some buyers couldwait up to five yearsbefore taking delivery of their electric pickup truck. Not every reservation will push through, and some have already made their way to eBay, waiting to be passed on to other prospective buyers.

Teslaratireports that the Cybertruck reservations are listed from $5,000 to $10,000 - quite a huge difference over the original $100 pre-deposit fee.One particular listingtouts itself as an early slot.

It's unclear whether Tesla will allow these individuals to profit from their reservations. The publication has reached out to Tesla showrooms for clarity, but they said they are oblivious to the company's policy on such.

One thing's for sure, though: those flipping their slots could've gotten a bigger profit if they just waited for their units to arrive. Understandably, the years-long wait list could be one of the reasons why they would like to reap the profits now, or perhaps they never had any intention of actually paying for the truck to begin with.

The final pricing for the Cybertruck hasn't been disclosed. Initially, the electric truck started at $39,900 for the entry-level single-motor variant. We wouldn't be surprised to see thebase price soarwhen it goes on sale next year. The higher-spec versioncould get a tri-motor drivetrainfrom the Model S Plaid, which will even sell for more money.

So far, we have seenone of the first examples soldfor as much as $400,000 at the 29th Petersen Museum Auction Gala. Of note, that example does not come with the VIN 001, but it shows how much people are willing to spend on the long overdue truck, at least when the proceeds benefit a good cause.

Tesla is ending the long wait as the Texas-based company will startmass production next year. Musk previously claimed Tesla could sell 250,000 to 500,000 units per year, depending on the demand. With the current waiting list, we're expecting the production lines to go full steam ahead.
