Tesla Cybertruck Designers Made A Major Miscalculation

Tesla is promising the truck world just about everything with its all-newCybertruck. Power, towing, and payload capacity all meet or exceed what competitors such as theFord F-150andChevrolet Silverado 1500offer. The exterior stylingremains controversialand while some may eventually warm to its unconventional design, others will forever despite it. Still, Tesla CEO Elon Musk claims over250,000 pre-ordershave been received so far. The California-based EV automaker has least done something right to have generated that much interest so quickly after itsNovember 21 debut.

But new information has come to light that could prove extremely embarrassing for Tesla, specifically its designers. Turns out the Cybertruck might have one fatal flaw that could turn away additional customers: its size. It's just too darn big to fit in the average-sized US garage. Could Tesla really have made such a colossal mistake?

Tesla enthusiast going by the name of Tesla Raj created this video with the help of an augmented reality app capable of providing a 1:1 rendered image of the Cybertruck. He "parked" the Cybertruck in his garage and realized something: it barely fits. You see, the average two-car garages in the US are about 20x20 feet or 22x22 feet. Some reach 24x24 feet. The Cybertruck's size problem is not its width but rather its length. Its width measures 78.9 inches, just slightly wider than a Model X at 78.7 inches. The truck's height is 75 inches compared to the Model X's 66.3 inches. Again, not a significant difference.

But here's the kicker: Tesla lists the Cybertruck's length at 231.7 inches while the Model X is 198.3 inches. In other words, the Tesla Cybertruck is nearly the same length as the largest Ford F-150 variant, the SuperCrew, which measures at 231.9 inches with the 5.5-foot box.
