Suzuki Jimny Turned Into Mini Ford Bronco Lookalike

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Japanese tuner Garage Ill has created a new body kit for the current-generation Suzuki Jimny, turning it into a miniatureFord Broncolookalike. This isn't the first time we've seen the Jimny used as a foundation to make a mini lookalike of another vehicle, asLiberty Walk previously announceda G-Class styling kit for therecord-setting mini off-roader.

The kit is called the "Bron55," which is pronounced as "Bron-go-go" in Japanese, a clever mix between the Bronco name and Garage Ill's Jet-Go-Go aero kits it sells for the Daihatsu Hijet kei truck.

To execute the transformation, it adds a Bronco-style unpainted ABS plastic grille to the Jimny's front fascia. This kit also includes a pair of round headlamps, daylight blinkers, corner markers, and various body panel stays. This can then be paired with a beefy Bronco-style bumper and a set of tow hooks. All of these, are like shrunken versions of the ones found on the real Ford Bronco.

Unfortunately, the Suzuki Jimny needed for the mini Ford Bronco kit is out of reach to the US market. All the more regrettable is the fact that the Bron55 kit itself is only sold in Japan. As a consolation, the kit is pretty affordable. For Jimny models with halogen lights, the grille & headlight set only costs around $ 1,069. The unpainted fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) bumper, meanwhile, costs $553. The company even sells a "value set" which already includes the grille, headlight set, and bumper for $ 1,475 for the halogen-equipped models and $ 1,652 for those with LED lights.

Another cool thing about this is that it looks like an easy clip-on job. Garage Ill, however, can also handle the installation - if one isn't too mechanically inclined. The buyer still has to paint the bits, but apparently, the company can provide that service, too.

Strangely, this isn't the first time we've seen a Jimny-Bronco lovechild. Earlier this year, GM's Chinese partnership with SAIC and Wuling Motors yielded the Baojun Yep EV, which looks like atiny electric lovechildof the two.

The Jimny has proven popular with various tuners, and while some like to make it look like another off-roader entirely, others have made it even more off-road capable formassive sums of money. We've even seen Jimnys turned into track-day weapons, while another tuner sells a kit toslam the Jimny on its nuts.

The Jimny may remain a forbidden fruit in the US, but that doesn't stop Americans from admiring this tiny SUV from afar. Then again, those serious about getting one might be able to snag one from several dealersimporting them through a few curious loopholes. You just have to shell out nearly $50,000.
