The Mercedes Formula 1 star is now an honorary citizen of Brazil.

In between testing theAMG One,让Mercedes Formula 1 team back on its feet, and battling it out with Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton has somehow found time to be named an honorary citizen of Brazil.

lewis dedicated the reception of his citizenship to his idol and now a fellow citizen of Brazil, Ayrton Senna. He's not the only F1 driver to receive a new title recently.Verstappen was named a Knightin early September and actually outranks Sir Lewis Hamilton.

ESPN reports that the Brazilian lower house passed the bill that would make Hamilton a citizen in June, which congressman Andre Figueiredo proposed. The proposal came after Hamilton won his third Brazilian Grand Prix late last year. In 2021, Hamilton won the Brazilian Grand Prix from the back of the grid in aspectacular display of driving talent.

Brazil is, understandably, a special place for Hamilton. It's the birthplace of his idol and, on top of that, the place where he won his first World Driver's Championship back in 2008. It was a spectacular win for Hamilton and a heartbreaking loss for Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, himself a Brazilian.

Hamilton passed Massa on the last corner of the race's final lap to take his maiden championship win. At one point in Hamilton's career, it became almost commonplace for himself or Mercedes to have one of the two championships for the year under their belts by Brazil.

"I have so many amazing memories of Brazil," Hamilton said at the ceremony. "And particularly 2021. Knowing you guys would cheer me on the way was one of the most special moments of my entire life. I can't wait for us to continue to strive ahead."

The ceremony highlighted an arguably far more critical aspect of the driver's life - Hamilton's activism. The driver works to promote several great causes, championing diversity within Formula 1, promoting environmental causes, and pushing for equality across the globe.

Hamilton is also responsible for getting thefirst black female on an F1 podium, which was a huge step forward for the male-dominated sport.
