The former basketball star has a message for Elon Musk.
TheTesla Model Shas a very spacious interior, so it's unusual for someone to struggle to fit inside comfortably. Unless you're Shaquille O'Neal, that is. In a video you can watch below, the four-time NBA champion can be seen struggling to squeeze inside a Tesla Model S.
Considering he's 7.1-feet tall, we doubt this is the first car Shaquille has had trouble fitting into. In the video, Shaquille attempts to climb inside the passenger compartment with the seat pushed all the way back, but this proved challenging, to say the least.
Eventually, Shaq squeezes into the cabin, but it certainly doesn't look comfortable. At the end of the video, Shaquille sends a message to Elon Musk: "Elon, you wanna make a big boy Tesla?" Even 42.7 inches of front legroom wasn't large enough to comfortably fit Shaquille. Surprisingly, Shaquille once owned a Tesla Model S, so we can't imagine how difficult it would have been for him to drive while squashed in the cabin.
Luckily for Shaquille, Tesla is building a much larger vehicle than the Model S that should meet his requirements: the Cybertruck. Measuring 231.7 inches long, 79.8 inches wide and 75 inches tall, there should be plenty of room inside the cabin for the 7.1-foot-tall basketball star.
If Shaquille does place an order for the Tesla Cybertruck, it won't arrive until late 2021 at the earlier, while the dual-motor all-wheel and the tri-motor versions are slated to arrive in 2022.
Alternatively, Shaquille has already tried out theRivian R1Tat last year's re:MARS event. Despite being smaller than theTesla Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T has a surprisingly spacious cabin. To prove this, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe shared a photo on Twitter with the basketball star sat behind the wheel of a R1T pickup with the caption "Shaq fits." Who knows, perhaps this will inspire Tesla to build a custom Model S with more cabin space for the former basketball star.
