Several Mercedes V8-Powered Models Are Back For 2022

The auto industry has been forced to adapt over the past couple of years. Supplier issues and everything else pandemic-related has caused numerous problems and, in many cases, new vehicle shortages. Luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz are not immune. Last August, we reported that the German automaker had no choice but to下降近every V8-powered modelfrom its 2022 year lineup because of supply chain issues. This was a significant blow to the AMG brand which relies heavily on these engines, but non-AMG models were also affected. Fortunately, Mercedes has some good news.

According toMotor Authority, Mercedes has begun accepting orders once again for the twin-turbo V8-powered GLE-, GLS-, and G-Class SUVs.

More specifically, the following SUVs are now available:GLE 580, GLE 63, GLE 63S,GLS 580, GLS 63, GLS 600 Maybach, and theG 550and G 63. We must point out that the latter two could take a while to arrive; the G-Class is supposedlysold out until 2024.

The report further notes that leftover 2021 orders will be automatically converted to 2022 model year orders. But, not every V8 Mercedes is back just yet. Still absent from the list are every AMG model, the CLS, and E-Class sedan and wagon. We don't know at this time when (or if) those latter models will be available once again. Still, this is a very good sign that things are, slowly but surely, beginning to return to normal.
