Retro Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II Concept Is Cooler Than Cool

Saleem has taken one of the most desirable performance cars of the 1990s, the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II, and turned it into a modern take on what looks like a DTM touring car. This two-door performance coupe was originally built to compete with the likes of theBMW M3and led to the existence of modern Mercedes-AMG sedans such as theC63 Sedan. The original design featured large flared fenders and an aggressive rear wing. Saleem has retained the DNA of the original car but has given it a race-car feel with a seriously aggressive front bumper with intakes next to the headlights, an aggressively styled hood, and gigantic carbon fiber wheels and slick racing tires. The rear-end shows off a prominent rear wing and a large diffuser setup with twin-exit central exhaust tips.

The exterior theme is finished off with a period-correct silver paint job and PETRONAS Green accents. The interior houses a set of modern racing bucket seats, and a full roll cage. Saleem has not mentioned any details regarding this creation's powertrain, but the original car featured a 2.5-liter inline-four engine producing 232 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. This allowed for a 0-60-mph sprint time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. Only 502 of the original Evo II cars were ever built, so it would make sense that these cars live on as digital recreations. Bravo Mr. Saleem.
