Ram 3500 Transformed Into 4x4 Camper With Supercar Technology

Off-roading aftermarket outfit TruckHouse has revealed the BCR 4x4 camper, and it's full of clever ideas and smart construction techniques. The company first made waveswith the BCTin 2021, which featured a carbon fiber 'house' atop a heavily modifiedToyota Tacoma, and now it has taken the ideas of that build and applied them to theAmerican Expedition Vehicles Prospector XL, an expedition vehicle created on the bones of aRam 3500.

As with the Tacoma, the house is a vacuum-infused monocoque mated to the truck chassis with a carbon fiber-reinforced torsion-free mounting system, said to be the first of its kind, but now has something called HiPR Foils to reduce aerodynamic drag.

The name comes from High Pressure Reduction and the word "Hyper," and the design redirects and controls drag-induced vortices down the side of the camper, thus reducing the high-pressure area at the front of the vehicle. It's basically like the air curtain system seen on most modern cars, where it acts as a brake cooler and a means of calming turbulent air around the wheels. The patent-pending idea should result in greater range and less wind noise. Flush-mounted windows prevent air and water ingress.

Inside the single-piece carbon fiber house shell, an open-plan layout provides an interior standing height of 6'6" and a clear view thanks to 270 degrees of windows that add to the feeling of spaciousness.
