保时捷Taycan追尾Macan穿过一堵墙Is Not How Macan EVs Are Made

Crash /9 Comments

This was a very expensive mistake to make.

一个homeowner in the Spanish capital of Madrid got the shock of their lives when two Porsches pummelled through a wall on Saturday, reportsPeriodisModel Motor. The driver of theTaycan Cross Turismo, an unidentified 45-year-old female, allegedly smashed into the rear of the parked Macan.

一个ccording to reports, the low nose of the electric Porsche acted like a scoop, lifting the SUV and carrying it into a brick wall. Images shared on Twitter by Madrid's emergency services show the whiteMacanwedged into the wall, stuck on the roof of the Taycan.

For now, the reason behind the accident remains unclear. However, as an electric car, the Taycan Cross Turismo has strong acceleration from a standstill. It's entirely possible the driver simply made a mistake and pressed the wrong pedal. Then again, she could have been speeding as well.

Thankfully, no one was injured; the Taycan's shaken owner was taken to hospital after suffering an anxiety attack. Removing the German luxury vehicles from the wall proved quite challenging for 112 Comunidad de Madrid, who were tasked with the feat.

Due to the complexity of the wreckage, emergency workers had to hoist the Macan with a crane. The Twitter account notes this tricky task had to be done with the utmost care to prevent further damage or injury. It's very likely that if the Macan were to be removed, the entire wall would have crumbled.

With the weight of the SUV taken off the Taycan, the electric station wagon was reversed out of the wall by one of the firefighters on duty. While no one sustained any serious injuries, the same can't be said for the Porsches involved in the accident. There's a small chance the Taycan Cross Turismo can be repaired, but it seems the Macan has met its end.

Not only did the Macan sustain damage from the rear, but it's possible underbody components were destroyed in the impact. The brick wall probably did serious damage to the front end of the dynamic SUV as well. All in all, it's not a good day for the insurance companies involved. Assuming both Porsches are base models with no options (which is unlikely) the combined total of these cars tallies up to €192,004 (approx. $192,150).

This isn't the first time a Taycan has found itself in a spot of trouble. In 2020, CCTV footage captured an example of the electric Porsche (this time a sedan)involved in a freak accident. The video shows a stationary Taycan in a driveway, but carnage breaks loose when the driver seemingly confused the gas with the brake. The Porsche hits another parked vehicle before flying off the raised driveway and landing on the roof of another car.

Both owners can be thankful that Porsche designedthe Taycan to withstand severe impacts. When introduced, the safety-obsessed boffins at Euro NCAP rated the electric performer highly for passenger protection, bestowing it with a final score of 85% for adult occupant safety and 83% for child safety.
