Porsche Shootout: 911 GT3 RS Vs. Taycan Turbo Vs. GT3 Cup

The three Porsches were taken to Sandown International Raceway to see how they compare to each other, with the first of two tests being a single-lap race around the circuit. Because the Cup car (and to a lesser extent the GT3 RS) is more at home on the circuit, it sets off last. The Taycan gets a 3.4-second headstart, and if you know your specs, you'll now that the electric sedan would be doing over 60 mph by the time the Cup racer gets going. With 670 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque available from launch, that's a decent jump, but the GT3 RS sets off just 1.4 seconds after the Taycan.

For reference, the GT3 RS with its 4.0-liter flat-six produces 514 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. It too can get to 60 mph in just three seconds flat, and with sticky tires that don't need much warm-up time, the Taycan has its work cut out. With the GT3 Cup racer on slicks that perform better after time, a longer race would be advantageous, but even so, the Cup car and the RS close hot on the heels of the Taycan. In a drag race (distance unspecified), the Taycan is again the quickest, but the lighter Cup racer comes in second. Quick enough to embarrass racecars yet comfortable enough to drive from Miami to NYC? We like the sound of that.
