Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Gets New Soundtrack That Will Scare 911 Owners

If the standard car sounds too tame for you, this custom exhaust will make it sound a lot more savage.

Thanks to a 4.0-liternaturally aspirated flat-six engine, the standardPorsche 718 Cayman GT4already sounds superb - but there's always room for improvement. Akrapovic has released a new exhaust system that makes the sports car roar more aggressively while also improving the performance.

Made of titanium, Akrapovic's Slip-On Race Line and Link pipe set takes around two hours to install. A video posted by Akrapovic lets us sample the Cayman GT4's sweet new sound with the custom exhaust installed- you may want to turn the volume up.

Compared to the standard factory exhaust, Akrapovic's titanium exhaust is 18 pounds lighter and also, while a required ECU remap increases the engine output by extra 15.5 horsepower at 2,600 rpm and 32 lb-ft of torque at 2,600 rpm.

As a result, Porsche's flat-six now produces 430 hp and 341 lb-ft of torque. No performance specifications have been released, but the modification should marginally improve the acceleration. For reference, the standard Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 will sprint from 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds. If you want even more performance, Porsche is currently developing a new hardcore,track-focused RS variantof the 718 Cayman GT4.

Power will be sourced by the same 4.0-liter flat-six as the regular GT4 tuned to produce around 450 hp. Rumors have claimed the output will be closer to 500 hp, but this seems unlikely since Porsche won't want to cannibalize sales of the GT3. The new GT4 RS should debut sometime this year, but if the standard car sounds too tame for you and you don't need the extra power the RS will provide, Akrapovic's seems like a good alternative.
