Is BMW starting to listen to critics?

Way back in 2020, the third generation of theBMW X6debuted. Now, two years on, it's about time for a facelift for BMW's popular coupe SUV. After all, BMW must keep the X6 relevant. This SUV is pretty much the entire reason the coupe-SUV segment exists, despite scathing criticism from across the spectrum.

Now, we're getting a better look at the new, facelifted X6. The last timeour spies spotted the new X6was back in December when BMW was conducting some winter testing for the new SUV. We said back then that the refresh appeared to actuallyshrinkthe design of the kidney grille, and we still stand by that today, despite the mouth of it being covered this time around.

BMW's new, slimmer headlights are still unchanged, while it would appear that the overall layout of the new grille has been cemented, as it too remains unchanged since December. However, we do wonder if BMW has made some last-minute changes to the kidney grille's graphics. That could explain why it's covered up completely.

Oddly enough, the car's badging remains covered, despite the unmistakable blue M brake calipers and BMW grille. We also notice a new set of wheels. We imagine the brand is simply testing the wheels that'll be available come production time. Our spies report there are going to be some updates to the rear lights at some point, but for now, they remain unchanged.

Also present was a more refined-looking version of the new iDrive8 software. We included a photo of the test version below to give you an idea. Finally, BMW fitted new exhaust tips to its Mercedes GLE competitor.

We don't expect any further changes to be made to the X6, which currently comes with either a 335-hp inline-six, a hybrid inline-six making 389 hp, or the brand's 523-hp V8. We also imagine this facelift will extend to any new BMW X6-based Alpina models. Those should be coming down the pipe soon, following宝马收购的调优company. The facelifted X6 is expected to begin production in April of 2023.
