One-Off Pinifarina Hyperion Drophead Coupe

Having make its world debut at the 2008 Concours d'Elegance at Pebble Beach, the Hyperion is not so much a design study. Rather, it's more of the famous Italian design studio's ability to make a gorgeous car even more beautiful. Hyperion, which was the name of one of the Titans of Greek mythology, was appropriately chosen because it represents the car's architectural and powerful stance.

Commissioned by collector and Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe owner Roland Hall, he wanted Pinifarina to create a custom-built car that would evoke the appeal of the extravagant cars of the 1930s. The end result is a car that embodies both the philosophies of Rolls-Royce and Pinifarina in terms of both strength and elegance. Perhaps the best example of this is the long hood design. With an aluminum spaceframe and rear-wheel drive, it's powered by a 6.7-liter V12 with 453 hp and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
